Small Panther Pot
Item: PANT

This pot was inspired by a stone pipe bowl from the Mississippian Period.   The original pipe had a bit of a base below the panther and a hole for a pipe stem.   Otherwise this is very much like the original artifact.  The original artifact was dated to 1200-1600 AD

Materials and Techniques:  This pot is hand formed from Native Clay which I dig and process myself.  The details were carved in and it was hand burnished using a polished stone.  It was then fired traditionally outdoors in a wood fire which was smothered with manure creating the rich black color.

Size: 2 3/8 inches Long 1.25 inches Tall 1.5 inches wide.
