Bird Pipe
Item: PIPE-BIRD

This pipe is a reprodudtion of a stone pipe from the Mississippian Period that was found at Moundville and was dated to 1000-1600 AD

Materials and Techniques:  This pipe is hand formed from Native Clay which I dig and process myself.  The details were carved in and it was hand burnished using a polished stone.  It was then fired traditionally outdoors in a wood fire which was smothered with manure creating the rich black color.

Size: 4.5 inches long 1.75 inches tall 1.5 inches wide
