Coiled Snake Pipe
Item: PIPE4

Coiled Snake pipe.  This is a traditional style snake pipe in the style of the Mississippian period (about 1000-1400AD) , although the ancient ones were not coiled.  It was hand built from native clay and incised.  It was then traditionally fired in a wood fire.  The strange color is a gift of the flame and the result of incomplete reduction or a partial whic was smothered to create the rich black color.
