Mimbres Grasshopper Bracelet-Hand Painted
Item:
JB-029-MIM-BRAC
This lovely bracelet features hand made porcelain beads the focal bead is hand painted with a Mimbres Grasshopper design on both sides. The design on this bracelet is designed to mimic the ancient bowls with the addition of the black edge designs simolar to those found on the ancient bowls. The grasshopper is going the opposite direction on the other side. The bracelet is finished off with hand made black and turquoise porcelain beads and sterling silver round beads and bead caps. It closes with a sterling silver magnetic dexterity clasp that is super simple to fasten around your wrist. It is adjustable by clipping the clasp into loops between beads further up the bracelet.
From around 200 A.D. to about 1150 A.D. a group of farmers lived along the banks of the Mimbres river in southwestern New Mexico. Near the end of this time around 1000 to 1100 A.D. they began to make the beautiful black and white design pottery which they are known for. This pottery is distinctive in its intricate geometric designs with fine lines and stylized figures of animals, humans and bugs. After about 1150 A.D. their villages were abandoned and no more of their pottery is found.
Size
: The bracelet is 7.75 (195mm) long adjustable down to 6 inches.
