The selections on this page feature hand painted realistic animal portraits.  (stylied animals will be in the painted category) These are painted on porcelain using china paints or underglazes.  China paint is layered on in several coats with each coat being fired before additional paint is added.  This results in a very rich detailed painting with a lot of depth.  Underglazes are painted on the unfired porcelain and then fired and glazed.  Some of the designs are transferred to the porcelain others are hand drawn check the descriptions for each piece to see exactly how they are done.
