FALCON
This bottle is made in the style of pots of the Missippian period which was from around A.D. 1000-1400 Although it is not a reproduction of any specific pot it is inspired by a Mississippian period artifact. The inspiration for this pot is a copper repousse' that was found in Dunklin county Missoury and which dates to A.D. 1200-1400
This pot was hand formed using the coiling method and then details added using hand dug clay. Wing detail was carved in. Red clay slip and a tan clay slip, also had dug was applied to the eye forks, crest, wings, feet and rope designs on the front of the pot. It was then hand burnished with a rock. It was fired outdoors a wood fire.
