Hawk with severed head pot
Item:
HAWK-1
This pot was inspired by a stone pipe bowl from the Mississippian Period. The original pipe bowl a hole for a pipe stem. Otherwise this is very much like the original artifact. The original artifact was dated to 1200-1600 AD
Materials and Techniques:
This pot is hand formed from Native Clay which I dig and process myself. The details were carved in and it was hand burnished using a polished stone. It was then fired traditionally in a wood fire.
Size: 5 inches long by 3 inches wide by 3 inches tall.
