This plate features a hand carved feline design inspired by an ancient copper repousse sheet that was found in the Hollywood Mound in Richmond County Georgia.  The Copper plate dates from the Mississippian period A.D. 1300. 

This plate is hand formed from native clay which I dig and process myself. It was sanded smooth, hand carved and burnished.  Then the carved areas were painted with slip from a red native clay which I also dig myself.  It was fired in an electric kiln.
