Item:
MIN-BOWL
Choctaw/Creek Style Incised Miniature Pot.
This pot is fashioned in the style of the ancient incised pottery most all of the mound builder groups of the Mississippian period. The original artifacts were made between about 1000-1700 AD. This pot is made from native clay and traditionally fired in a wood fire which was smothered with dung to create the black color.
This pot is suitable for use in a miniature setting.
During the Mississippian period the mound builder Indians created a large group of interesting shapes and styles of pottery with intricate incised designs. This tradition stretches over roughly a 700 year period. With more intricate designs being seen later in the period.
