Bear Claw Polychrome Jar

This pot features a design inspired by ancient Tonto and Gila River Polychrome pots.  It is not a reproduction of any ancient pot but is painted in that style with similar design elements.

This pot was hand formed from hand dug clay.  It was scraped smooth then painted over with a white slip.  It was then burnished with a rock.  It was then hand painted with the bear claw design which wraps around the pot.  It was also painted on the inside with similar designs.It was painted using hand mixed manganese and hematite paints.  It was wood fired.
